The one thing that I noticed about the Atomic Punks shows that I think is sorely missing is a chance for Bassist Joe Lester to take a Bass Solo! Russ Parrish is definitely required to take a solo(since we all expect him to do so), and at the Fake Fest 3 show at Sunset Station, Scott Peterson the drummer got to take a drum solo(which by the way, KICKED SOME SERIOUS ASS!!, but our friend Joe was not given a chance to take a solo! Why? Why? Why? I expect a good answer to this question and a Bass solo from Joe at the next show when you guys come to town. Don't let me down guys!! Til then ROCK ON!!

Maybe it's because he doesn't have the Jack Daniels bass yet. I think that is a prerequisite for a bass solo in VH related band.

Man, Joe is SO talented..and, a very nice guy too....It really is unfortunate that he isn't given a chance to perform a "solo" and truly shine....Well, he does anyway in my book! Rock on, Joe!!!

Sorry for the quasi-threadjack, but I just noticed your signature, Samantha, and I just love it. I know I have heard that somewhere else before, it's very inspiring.
Anyway, I'm sure a bass solo would only add to the quality of an already great show.
My friend, Atomic Angel, and I also went to the Fakefest in LV and she took some pretty good photos. I will try to scan them in the next day or so.

Thanks Princess!
I love the quote too, and have heard another person, Dr. Phil, repeat that very phrase to many of his guests. It's so true! I agree with you about a bass solo, if Joe did do that it would only sweeten the deal in my opinion. He rocks!
I can't wait to see those LV pics!

thanks for the post. I personally think Bass solos and drum solos are a waste of time. I do however like the way Ralph and Scott do the drum solo in our show. But for me, I don't do bass solos. We have tried it twice in the Atomic Punks. Way back in the beginning, I used to do Cathedral on the bass and then Scott and I would do a version of Sunday Afternoon in the Park. It just never seemed better then doing a whole VH song. Recently, we tried another Bass-Drum solo thing, Sunday Afternoon--One Foot Out the Door. It just doesn't seem right. As a fan, in the audience, I'd much rather hear another song then see someone do a solo. If you think about it, every song is a solo. There is no one else playing my parts. That's good enough for me, I don't need a solo spot in the show. Thanks, for the interest, I really appreciate it. However, you probably will not see a Bass solo in our shows.

You're very welcome, Robyn!
And, thanks to you, Joe. It's good to hear things from your perspective! Thanks for responding. It's also good to know that you feel every song is a solo for you....how very right you are. I know I've said this before, but you ROCK!

You are so welcome, Joe! We're all having Atomic Punks withdrawals over here! It's been FAR TOO LONG! Just as a side note, I usually call up the local rock stations in advance (and the 80's station) to spread the word about all of the upcoming Punks shows! Then later, I usually catch them mentioning something about you guys over the air the day of the show. It's very cool and a good way to get the MN locals out to see the BEST Van Halen Tribute band alive! Can I be your MN public relations assistant???? LOL!
Can't wait to "dance the night away"!

Oh man I hope I can get the night off, only 3 more days to go. I have never seen Van Halen live period and they are my favorite band ever. I thank god that The Punks come to MN quite alot each year because they simply are the best VH Tribute ever. Since I do work nites I have only seen them once at POV's but I know it will not be the last. I just wish I could see them everytime they come.
I doubt Eddie will ever go back on the road so I can safely say I fantisize that this IS VH when I see them. "Sounds strange coming from a married man I know..hehe"
