Once again you guys tore the roof off the Marquee Theater in Tempe AZ.

Had a chance to exchange a few words with Joe before the show, cool dude I must say. I was the guy standing by the Sound Board.

Anyway, that place was friggin packed. I hope to see you guys down here more often. Was cool to hear some different stuff then normal. Sounded real good.

Peace out guys! [Thumbs Up!]

Yea!! This show rocked hard!!! You guys played all my favorite songs!! (but no Top Jimmy =( but i know it would be a hard song to learn correctly)

After the show I saw you were selling shirts so I bought two of the red XL ones from Scott (one for me and one for my friend)

Seen here (posing with my 1984 LP, hehehe):

Over all you guys were awesome, great job "covering" classic Van Halen..

One question I had though, Russ' guitar didn't seem to have any pickups in it's two slots, so I was wondering what that was all about.. Not saying that he wasn't playing the guitar, since eruption/solos can't really be faked..

Peace,
Josh

Russ's guitar is indeed a Wayne Charvel Custom axe. It has one humbuker pickup in the back by the bridge if I am correct. The body looks like a regular old Fender Strat thats been modified. That is probably why you see the middle and forward slot being empty. For heavy shredding you don't use those pickups anyway. The only time I use those pickups is if youi want a warmer sound. And to play VH, you definetly don't need that.

That is definetly him playing.

This was said on this board before - Van Halen NEVER played "Top Jimmy" live. For what I remember about that old post (and please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong), it involves two guitars tuned differently, used intermittently throughout the song. Highly impractical for live shows, methinks, so it's not a question of difficulty to learn it correctly.

Hey DC, it was cool to meet you the other night, sorry I couldn't talk, I've had that cold that's been going around for about a week now. I honestly didn't know how I was going to sing the show, but Ralph gave me some good warm up tips in the back and somehow, the vocals came out once we started, not great, but it worked. Anyway, I'll rap more with you next time when I can actually talk.

Tracy,

I think you hit the nail on the head. I personally think that their aint a song out there that Russ can't play or learn to play.

I was going to say but forgot in my previous post, there are alot post processing effects added to Top Jimmy. I am sure both guitar tracks are recorded individually then mixed. Would be probably next to impossible to play live, unless you had one of those gay ass looking twin neck guitars.

No worries Joe, I am sure that you were feeling like crap, but things worked out ok on stage and thats what your there for right? The show comes first! [Bouncey]

Glad to see another Marquee show on the calander, I will definetly be there, and possibly I can catch you guys again on one of my trips to my home town of San Diego.
