Great article, really cool to have been at some of the nights that he is referencing. He captures the scene pretty nicely.

Ok, I think it's great that the guys are getting press. They totally deserve it, but come on! The article as a whole is a piece of crap with no substance! I think the first part about Metalshop is great and captures the light-hearted essence of Camaro at the Viper, but after that it goes straight to hell. And by the way...were any of you at the Quiet Riot show? They blew. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Just had to get that out. That damn college education only makes me look like a bitch again...

I understand what you're saying, he just kind of floats from night to night with no real segway and just offers little "observations" that often have nothing to do with the artists, i.e. the bachelorette party/blow up doll bit. I guess I just found it amusing because I was there for almost all of the shows that he mentioned and it was funny to relive those little moments that I too had observed. However, for those who weren't there, this article really doesn't tell you anything except that you can catch a great show at the Viper Room on Monday nights.

When I call it a great article, I'm really only applauding the fact that somebody actually covered the subject matter in LA Times. Bad press is still press right!

No offense to Quiet Riot fans, but they were never good. Marginally decent when Randy Rhoads carried them, he was smart enough to get out as soon as he could.

I got some copies of the article in the LA Times, I'll try to put a few scans up tonight when I get a chance.

Well I see the article online actually included the pictures, so I've done a little write up and posted the pics if anyone's interested. Go HERE.

And there is a noticeable shift in the air as Tracii Guns erupts with the springy riff from Van Halen's "Ain't Talkin' Bout Love," that 1978 epic of decadence and swagger, and a key influence on much of the metal that came after.

Just wondering....

I saw a live video of LA Guns back in the late 80s and TG used to incorporate ATBL into his solo spot but played the riff wrongly..

I take it after all these years he has learned to play it properly... [Smile]

Cheers!
