Is Metal Shop at Joe's Bar in Chicago this Saturday night...January 11th??? It says so on Joe's Bar calendar. According to the Punks Calendar though, the Punks have a show that night at the Whisky. Does anybody know which show is happening for sure???

It's not THE Metal Shop playing there, it's a different band. The Punks are playing at the Whisky this weekend.

I was thinking it was them, I saw the Punks at Joe's so it seemed likely it was them. Who is this band playing at Joes then?

Beats me guys, there are a few bands running around the country as Metal Shop, but believe me, the band playing Saturday is not Ralph and Russ' Metal Shop. The Punks will be at the Whisky Saturday. Maybe call Joe's and ask who the band is, I am sure it's the same 80's metal stuff that the real Metal Shop does.

That's fucked up. Because if you even go on Joe's Bar's website, they have a huge picture of that fake Rolling Stone magazine cover with Ralph and Russ on it. Here's the caption underneath it..."Danger Kitty returns to Joe's Saturday, January 11th. The stars of the Discover Card commericals rock Joe's this Saturday night along with Catfight". Man, what HORSE SHIT!!!

It sucks that there are bogus Metal Shop bands.

This guy saw my Metal Shop webpage and asked what they were doing up in Seattle last weekend.

He said the singer was a very tall guy wearing a dark wig, and I said it didn't sound like the real Metal Shop (Ralph/Michael is the only band Metal Shop guy who doesn't wear a wig).

Then I heard about a Foo Fighters interview on M2 where Grohl was commenting on the Viper Room Metal Shop show, and the interviewer said "we have one of those bands on the east coast too".

That's just bogus stealing an entire cover band's name, setlist, act, look and reputation [Cry]

There should be better enforcement by their management of all that stuff. Not by hiding their calendar, pictures and video clips from the public, but by actively going after the copycats, and doing MORE promotion of the REAL Metal Shop / Danger Kitty.

Just venting [Mad]

Metal Shop rules! Atomic Punks rule!

The bars these copycat bands play in probably don't even know that they are not the real Metal Shop. And to tell you the truth, if these bands aren't playing in LA or San Diego, most people in attendance aren't even going to know if that's the real Metal Shop or not...unless they have somebody like me there, who's seen them and the Punks dozens of times, telling them otherwise. Check it out... http://www.joesbar.com/default-low.asp

Check out an email I just got from Chicago's rock station "The Loop":

"The Loop and Danger Kitty Rock Chicago! You know 'em and love 'em from the Discover Card commercial... and now you can see them live at Joe's... it's everyone's favorite hair band,
Danger Kitty! This band will be crankin' out your favorite Loop tunes Saturday night at Joe's on Weed Street in Chicago. The Loop will be on
hand giving away cd's, shirts, and other rockin' freebies! Look for The Loop Hummer out front and get there early for more live rock openers!
Tickets are only $8, so come out and re-live the 80's with Danger Kitty at Joe's at 940 West Weed Street in Chicago."

Bastards. At least call your band a different name and stop duping these bars that don't know the difference. But, then again, that's probably the only way they can get booked. Just venting...a la Albert.

Calm down everybody...these are bands (Seattle and Chicago) that Perfect World Entertainment (Boogie Knights) puts out there because there is money to be made off of these shows. Obviously, because of the Punks, Ralph and Russ cannot play evey Metal Shop show booked. So the company has other guys who go out and play as Metal Shop. There is also a band in Salt Lake City every Thursday right now. It's not the same as when Ralph and Russ do it. But there's lots of gigs, and plenty of guys to do the work. So, the mananger of Metal Shop wants to make the money, and it's his choice to call it the same band and send who he wants. And a lot of guys get to earn good money and have fun playing Metal. At least everyone is lucky enough to have a web page where they can find out when and where Ralph and Russ will really be.....who knows, you might see me and Scott up there doing it. Would you be mad at us?? If it wasn't the normal Metal Shop bass player and drummer??

Well, thanks for setting the record and us straight Joe. Had no idea that's how it worked. That seems cool then. Maybe I'll check them out. It's all good. So, when are the Punks coming back to Chicago...eh??

Hey Joe, I've seen you fill on bass for Metal Shop (see some pictures from 4/13/02 on my Metal Shop links page as well as some pictures I have to get around to "one of these days" from some Moose's shows in Pasadena).

I was even at a Typhoon Saloon Metal Shop show where Scott was supposed to fill in on drums, but I guess they were able to get the guy from the Danger Kitty commercial/CD single photo shoot (Peter?)

No, I wasn't mad, and wouldn't be mad at you guys filling in [Roll Eyes] however you know as well as I do that the people who are "victimized" out of their money are the fans who show up possibly expecting fine caviar (Ralph & Russ) and instead getting Star-Kist tuna.

There is nothing wrong with canned tuna, and there isn't anything wrong with PWE trying to make a buck, unless of course you paid for and were expecting the caviar [Irked]

Anyway, when you look at this from the perspective of talented musicians around the country getting paid, entertaining crowds and bringing back heavy metal, maybe the ends justify the (deceptive) means...

Yeah I knew Ralph didn't own the Metal Shop/Danger Kitty name, so their management can pretty much do whatever they want with it, bill any band they want as Danger Kitty. Completely LAME!

Lame indeed. I choose not to go to Joe's last Saturday night. Glad I didn't.

I was really looking foward to seeing Ralph and the guys at joes in Chicago last saturday. I play guitar with the 80's/Hair metal tribute band Hairbangers Ball(from Chicago)we did a show with the Atomic Punks in June 2002(in Chicago)and had a great time with them. Much to my dismay the band that was on stage at joes was not the band I expected. I'm putting down the "Danger Kitty" that I saw, they did a great job, but the ads for the show were very misleading. We only take 1 weekend off every 4 months and I was looking foward to rocking out with Ralph and the fellas. I hope in the future that this type of mistake can be avoided, I know Ralph is pissed at the false advertising that took place. I'm sorry for the vent but people should not be duped when spending their hard earned money. Hope to hit the west coast soon, rock on everyone!!!Freddy Fingers/Hairbangers Ball.

That's ridiculous, and by using the "real" Metal Shop's picture in the promotion as well.

Guys, here's a word of advice. If you see a place that is billing Metal Shop, but you see on this site the Atomic Punks have a show that same night, you can be rest assured that the Metal Shop being touted is NOT the real deal. If the Punks are playing, that's where Ralph and Russ will be and nowhere else.
