Heard a VERY FUNNY story about something that happened at last night's Metal Shop show in Las Vegas ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)
Any Vegas Atomic Punks fans there who can tell the story properly? My version would only be 2nd hand.
Even better, would love to hear from Ralph or Russ what they thought about what happened ![[Thumbs Up!]](graemlins/thumb.gif)
I doubt that same thing has ever happened to Metal Shop before at any of their regular San Diego and Hollywood gigs.

That was at a different show... the story I heard had to do with the "decency laws" that Las Vegas has... ![[Roll Eyes]](rolleyes.gif)

I don't know what happened in Vegas, but I could tell you something funny/creepy/obscene/sad that happened at the Platinum Live show on Friday (6/20) of that same week (the opinion depends on whether you were a guy or a girl...) I was front and center to witness it, if anybody cares.

Right on, then, PunkPrincess - here it goes.
It was opening night at this club in Studio City, and I dragged my friend Erin with me to the show (promising her a good show and tons of laughs). When she show was about to begin, I moved up to the stage and she remained at the table where we'd been sitting. There was the stage monitor, a girl, and then me, that's how close I was.
To my right, in front of Ratchett, there were a group of very drunk dudes in their 20s or so, who kept on heckling, "Metallica! Slayer!" all night (very annoying). At one point, Ratchett compromised, and the band played "Highway to Hell," and therefore they shut up... for about 5 seconds.
Ralph, in the meantime, was messing with all the girls in the audience, particularly regarding their breast size (I fell in that area too), and him and Russ started egging on girls to get on stage to flash the audience. Since their efforts were unsuccessful, one of the very drunk guys mentioned before said he'd get on stage and show us his tool. I don't know if the band were expecting for him to go through with this, but the guy got on stage, and dropped his pants. ![[WTF]](graemlins/wtf.gif)
It was one of those moments in time when you don't want to see, yet you can't get your eyes away from the scene, you know what I mean? I took a peek and looked away, as did quite a few others. (It was nothing to write home about, mind you). Erin later on told me that the guys out back were looking very interested in what they were seeing, and they seemed to smile and nod to themselves, as if saying, "Right, I'm so much better than that guy!"
Later on, for the encore, the guy got on stage again, and kept on bothering Russ... to the point that a security guy had to bodily remove him from the stage.
All in all, it was a great show - and I got to see a whole new side of Joe Lester's (the Saigon Kick t-shirt and the black marker doodles passing off as tattoos were unbelievable).
There now - liked the story?

Good story! I know what you mean...it's like seeing a car accident, you don't want to look at it, but you are compelled to for some reason.
And have you ever noticed that it's the guys who seem to have something to prove that drop their pants in public? Usually what they are showing off isn't much to brag about

Black marker doodles! That is outstanding. I haven't seen anyone do that since 10th grade and it usually took a few days for those to wear off...

The black marker tatoo's are some of Ralph's very famous temporary artwork. You can't even purchase it for your art collection they are so rare. But that guy is sure creative.

That's a shame! I was looking for something to go next to my velvet Elvis painting and the dogs playing poker. Oh well...I guess I will have to keep searching. ![[Razz]](tongue.gif)

Well, I can't tell a good story like Tracy (thanks), but here is basically what I heard about the Metal Shop show in Vegas:
Not too far into the show, after their usual banter about sex acts, various body parts, sex acts with various body parts, etc. the Las Vegas police department showed up and stopped the show ![[Eek!]](eek.gif) There was a long delay while they were told what they could and could not do, and then Ralph came out and publicly apologized to the casino, the audience, the passers by, and anybody else who might have been offended by what they said, or how they said it ![[Cry]](graemlins/cry.gif)
For the remainder of the set they had to come up with creative subsitutions for certain words, expressions, gestures, etc. while the cops kept an eye on them
It was awkward for most of the audience (who probably had never seen Metal Shop) and nobody was sure if it was part of the act ![[Frown]](frown.gif) The DJ left as soon as Metal Shop started, so while the police were talking to the band it was nearly dead silent.
Still, they ended up with a decent turnout, so hopefully they will return again to "Sin City" Las Vegas.
Again, this is my second hand version, and I'd like to hear from someone else who was there. The whole story seemed so Spinal Tappish!

Dude, why would a state with legalized prostitution in certain parts and legal open alcohol in public care about a band saying tits and simulating sex on stage? Man, how weak.

Those were my thoughts exactly. Can someone say hypocritical? The world is a crazy place.

NOT to support the police in any way on this matter because talk about the ultimate irony, but....the guys do go FAR beyond this - they use the "f" word excessively and even get pretty graphic in terms of sex....so I'm sure, as casnios now have kids running around, that was more of the concern. <But, again, I'm not supporting their censorship - I mean I wouldn't want my little ones hearing that kind of talk, but then I wouldn't have them hanging out in a casino either.> The story actually made me laugh, though. I got the scoop last night from one of the guys and it's just too, too funny. I would've paid money to see them scrambling to censor themselves. And hearing them say "frick" and other cursing alternatives.
BTW, apparently they were even threatened with being arrested if they said another swear word! eek!!! Wouldn't you love that....let's see, the prostitutes run rampant in Vegas, but Metal Shop gets arrested for saying "f@ck". hehehehe

I think it's kind of interesting. People each have a unique perspective on the same thing. No one sees the same thing in the same way. One person can be offended by something no one else takes offence to...
What I don't understand is why people have to ruin a good time for others just because that one person (or small group) doesn't like whatever it is they are seeing...I mean if you don't like something at a show, just leave or whatever...
Maybe Tipper Gore was there holding a PMRC meeting!
Seriously though, if MetalShop put on a bad show, no one would be showing up. I for one think it should be on Broadway it's so good

As my friend Erin put it when I told her, after she had a good laugh, "This is what happens when you try to make everybody happy, like they do in Vegas." What a shame!
