I went to the Viper Room show last night, and at the end the guys were selling a brand new CD of original material by Metal Shop. I am glad to say that they were sold out after a few minutes, and that the CD is absolutely hysterical (yes, I played it as soon as I got home, much to the amazement of my cats, while getting ready for bed). So get thee to a show, people, and support the band!
Tracy (still very sleepy)

How about I let you know next time I go, and I get you one and mail it to you, Jeff? Would that work?

So, what's the skinny on this CD? Track listing? Highlights? Lowlights (if there are any)?
Anyone? anyone?
Bueller? Bueller?

Well, it's got 9 tracks on it - some are just like spoken interludes like the ones you'd get at a show, but much shorter. My favorite track at the moment (I know it's gonna change in a few days) is "Hell's On Fire," and the intro to it, "Is It Hot In Here?" There's some great shredding by Ratchet, and Michael sounds great. The requisite ballad is there, in "Stripper Girl."
I highly recommend it if you're a fan of MS, you won't be disappointed!
Let me know when you're coming down, PunkPrincess, maybe we can go to the show together so you can get your copy...

I hate that I've used up all my vacation time!
I think I feel a sick day coming on...cough, cough. Damn! I don't have any more of those to use up either!
If Metal Shop has a Saturday show down in LA, I will so be there, Tracy. I may even be able to make it on a Friday. It would be a miracle if they came up to San Francisco.
I do have that Danger Kitty CD that Discover Card had out...that will hold me over.

I'm still seething over losing that one on eBay a week ago... (as Wayne Campbell) "but it will be mine... oh, yes! It will be mine..."

Dude, I saw someone auctioning off an autographed Atomic Punks picture - the explanation is "I have two of them." The saddest part was the opening bid... $0.01. I kid you not!

That's silly. I mean you get them for free at the shows. And if someone has an extra and wants to share with those not fortunate enough to have the Punks come to their town frequently, why don't they just come here and post that they are willing to share?
Did someone actually bid on it?

Following a total wild hair, at the last minute I ended up canceling my weekly tennis lesson and going last Wednesday night to the "Rock Never Stops" tour stop in San Diego. That would be Slaughter, Winger, Warrant and Whitesnake, or as I like to call it "a tribute to Metal Shop"
Anyway, what better way to end the night but a trip to Metal Shop at San Diego's Typhoon Saloon? So off we went and had another great time!! As usual the band was great and the place was packed. After the show I bought 2 CDs and enjoyed listening to the CD on the long drive home
Here is a scan of the tracklist:
All songs are original. The CD is both funny and rocking! Just like a Metal Shop show!!
At 10 bucks, it is also a bargain. I'd recommend buying CDs for you and your friends, your car, your work, your co-workers, relatives and anybody else!

I recently saw a preview of an official Metal Shop website (the one mentioned on the CD artwork) and it looks like people will be able to order the disc online and have it shipped straight to their door.
While you are waiting for the Metal Shop website to launch, why not pass the time listening to music from Russ' original rock band The Ducks
The Ducks CD release party last Thursday was postponed due to the baby's arrival, but the new Ducks CD is now available for easy online purchase!
Russ sings and plays lead guitar in The Ducks, and he writes the songs that make the whole world sing

That's so awesome! Thanks for the info, Albert.
On a related note, I was over at the metal-sludge gossip board and on a thread about Metal Shop someone posted a bunch of "quotes" from a Metal Shop show. I totally had flashbacks. I was sitting at work reading them and laughing out loud. Needless to say, some people were giving me funny looks.

What totally killed me on that thread was the Metal Shop bio - I was laughing so bad, I woke up my cat from his 2nd nap of the morning, or so...

A link to that thread would be appreciated
Oh, and the official Metal Shop website (at MetalShopRules.com ) has a teaser placeholder that was different than the preview I had seen (where you could actually order the Metal Shop CD), but hey, it looks like it is closer to launching!

Finally, Metal-Sludge.com has reviewed (and is selling) the Metal Shop CD, "Hole Patrol." You can read the review HERE. I swear to Goddess, I choked in my coffee as I was laughing so much (the review is great, BTW ). They also have a link to the modest site Ralph mentioned recently that is selling the CD. So get thee there, and check it out - the review, that is...

I have been listening to my Metal Shop CD all weekend...thanks to Tracy for picking it up for me! You are the best!
I was reading the liner notes and laughing out loud. Hell's on Fire is my favorite song. It cracks me up everytime I hear it. And dammit, you guys better be coming to the Bay Area. SF People over at sludge can't stop talking about it.
We have absolutely nothing to do here in the Bay Area so please get up here and make our lives a little brighter

You're welcome, PunkPrincess, it was my pleasure - in the morning reading of the Metal-Sludge site, I found this:
" If you ordered a Metal Shop CD, please be patient because we sold out of our initial shipment! A shitload went out this week so they should be in the mail, but if you don't get yours, just hold tight and it'll be there before you know it. Sales are completely out of control, with people ordering Metal Shop CDs from Israel, Germany, Japan, England, Ireland, Canada, New Jersey, and all across the world! Even Steve Brown and Dan Dryden ordered CDs! In fact, just as I was writing this two orders came in, one from Lubbock, TX and one from Scranton, PA. Everybody wants one, so we'll get them to you as soon as Metal Shop gets them to us!"
The link to that comment is HERE
I, for one, am very glad for the band. The CD rocks! Congrats once again.
