Let me start by saying that for the past 4 months I have not missed a METAL SHOP at the Suncoast in Las Vegas. It is without a doubt, the greatest show on Earth, and in those few months the crowd has grown to a packed house of over 500 people (the room seats 500 and people are standing in the aisles) and it grows every week.

Last week they stated they were fired from Suncoast for being too profane and it was upsetting the gamblers.

Is this the reason? It seems odd since they really are packing the place and even with the FREE admission and DOLLAR DRINKS (okay, suncoast, try to make money!!!) they are still packing the place on a freakin TUESDAY nite, by anyway, hopefully they are going to be playing at a better venue that better suits them, where they can generate some money for themselves and the club.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE THE NO COVER AND THE DOLLAR DRINKS, but I almost feel guilty cause of just how good the show is.

There are a ton of better places to play in Vegas and I guarantee their fans would pay the $10 a week to see them. Be it House of Blues or the Joint at the Hard Rock or someplace on the Strip, or at a Stations Casino where the Punks play.

I know the stations have better 'rooms' for them to play, more of a club setting, rather than a las vegas showroom where you would see Wayne Newton.

Regardless of where they wind up, just a thanks to the guys for putting on awesome shows week after week and truly looking like they are having a great time, rather than just going thru the motions week after week.

I'm going to see the punks on feb 20,21 at sunset station and looking foward to it.

Theres just something about METAL SHOP that strikes a cord in not only me, but everyone that goes to see them week in and out.

The only thing that I can compare it to, and people say I'm out of my mind, but fuck it-- the first time i saw Metal Shop - the only thing that comes close is the first time I saw GUNS N ROSES on MTV -- I aint even kidding, that was 15 years ago, and no band has affected me to that level since then.

I doubt I'm alone

A fan,
Scott

Please tell me this isn't true! [Frown] I am going to Vegas for the Superbowl and one of the things I wanted to do was to see Metal Shop.

And how IRONIC is it that they were too obscene for Las Vegas? Is anything too obscene for Vegas? I didn't think that was possible.

Great, I hope I don't have to go see Wayne Newton instead.

Edited to say: I just realized that I was going to go to Vegas for my 30th birthday and Metal Shop was on the itinerary for that trip, too.

Now, I'm really depressed.

Thanks Scott for letting us know about that EXTREMELY SAD news [Frown]

Punk Princess and I are going to Vegas for the Super Bowl and intentionally extended our stay until early Wednesday a.m. so we could see Metal Shop.

I just called the Suncoast and they said Metal Shop's last performance will be tomorrow night. We missed it by one week. SO BUMMED!!!

SUNCOAST = SUCKS [Cry]

You're not kidding, it sucks-- the only bright side is that I emailed Ralph and he replied that it is indeed the last show at suncoast, but they will be playing somewhere else in Vegas but he didnt know the venue.

Now, I dont know if they already have a deal lined up and won't miss a week -- I am hoping to God they announce the new venue tomorrow night -- or if he's hoping to put something together in the future.

I know how you guys feel - I have friends coming in for the superbowl, and I'm like fuck the game, wait till tuesday nite to see this band I keep talking about.

For what its worth, Viper Room is 'only' a 4 hr drive on Monday nites [Wink]

Tomorrow nite should be out of control. I'll post an update after the show---

If anyone has any updates on Vegas gigs, please let us know, there's a real strong following out here!!!

Thanks
Scott~!

First of all, I hope that the band won't suffer financially because of that. Very weak, and that excuse from the venue just doesn't sit right. That SUCKS! Everywhere I want to go for Metal Shop gets cancelled. We're going to be in Vegas mid-week in March, and got an earlier flight so we can get to a Tuesday night show.

How the F$(@*)$*(@)K can you be too profane for Vegas?

I hope the show gets rescheduled at another venue very soon, for real this time, and hope that you all get to catch a show soon.

Vegas is of course not like it used to be. It's so family oriented. Haven't you guys ever seen Casino? Hahhaa.. The only place they could play and get away with anything would be at a strip club. That would be sweet. I think they've played at a strip club before.

The last show at the Suncoast ROCKED. They went all out and made everyone a part of the show. We are waiting patiently to hear of the new venue. Nothing was announced last night.

I just hope that the unity we have for the last show increases with the anticipation of the new one. It was a BLAST and a show I will never forget. Thank you all for being there and sharing the LOVE for the music and the Band.

We were told that FulMetal Jacket will be plying on Tuesday's and they aren't the same, but they are pretty good from what I've seen. I hope to see you all there until Metal Shop returns. I liked the Hard Rock idea of Scott's. That place it great all the way around.

Also, I am hoping the Fakefest this year will include the Punks and Metal Shop. That would kick butt.

Best Wishes,

Tori's right, the last show was fucking awesome, I recorded it on an audio tape, YES I BOOTLEGGED METAL SHOP, don't think they'll mind, gonna figure out how to transfer it onto a CD...

They were a class act last night, a few people shouted FUCK SUNCOAST etc, and Ralph told them its not the suncoasts fault, and they thanked the hotel for giving them a shot. They also said to give FULL METAL JACKET a chance too, as they are friends of theirs. We'll see about that.

I still dont buy the profanity issue, as if that was the case they wouldnt have let them played a final show which was by far the most vulgar show they've put on. It also seems like a slap to replace them with another heavy metal 80s cover band.

FMJ may be good, but they aint gonna be Metal Shop, and hopefully Suncoast and MS can work out whatever the problems are and get this straightened out.

SOmeone really should contact House of Blues are Hard Rock here to line something up. A weekly show here in a hip hotel like PALMS or Hard Rock would be bigger then the Viper Room Show.

Palms is prob an ideal spot. It plays to locals, attracts a young crowd, is loaded with celebs, and George Maloof (owner) would prob dig the show.

Its also the kind of place where everyone won't run to the parking lot right after the show, they;ll stay. hit a club, grab some food and hell, even gamble a bit.

Just a thought.

Traci, I'm sure I've seen you, I've been to prob 14, 15 shows myself -- anyway are u going to go next week for FMJ?

Rock Out

When I talked to Ralph on Saturday at the HOB, he sounded pretty confident that they'd get another gig in Vegas. So I wouldn't worry, they'll be back very soon.

Um, last time I checked Britney, Michael Jackson and Kobe were celebrities.

As far as the Palms still being in business, they were only one of the most popular properties in town.

Obviously you're ignorant though, so I wont bother responding to the rest of your 'post'.

Feel free to offer up a better suggestion than the Palms, House of Blues or the Joint.

I still can't believe my luck on this. [Frown] I really hope they do find somewhere else to play in Vegas. They haven't come back to San Francisco, which sucks, but I am eternally hopeful.

See, now you're talking, both Pinky's and Emergency Room are great ideas.

Hell, even the TAILSPIN at this point would work.

Is the Huntridge still open?

He's banned guys, don't worry about it. I've also deleted his posts, we don't need that kind of stuff on here. There's plenty of other message boards where that kind of abusive banter is accepted.

Hey, I was thinking about catching a Viper Room show to tide me over till they get back out here, whats the best time to get there? Is it hard to get in or sell out? I'd hate to drive to LA and then not get into the show....

Also, whats the cover to get in?

Thanks,
Scott~!

Hey, Scott, Tracy here -

On the Viper Room shows, it basically depends on who's playing that night as well, as that would determine how many people are let in, as well as the time you'll spend outside waiting in line. For instance, if FL is playing, getting in is quite hard, as they have a huge following.

Cover is $10, and I usually get there around 10PM, unless The Thornbirds (that's Russ' band) are playing; then I get there quite early, around 9PM or so.

Shameless plug: The Thornbirds are opening for Metal Shop on 2/23. FL is also in the lineup - this is a can't miss event!

Let me know if you have any more questions -

Like Tracy was saying it depends who else is playing that night. I usually always get there at 10ish or so. Usually there is no line and I just walk in or maybe theres a very small line of 10 or less but then there have been nights where I'd get there at 10 and wait and wait until it was 1 and I'd miss the first couple songs. My advice is to play it safe and get there from 9-9:30. You can get your hand stamped if you dont feel like sticking around inside and come back in later. Hope this helps

Thanks for the info, guys.

I'm prob gonna go to the show on the 9th...

People think I'm nuts to frive 4 hrs to see a 'Cover Band' and when you try to explain what makes the show awesome, they just look at you like your fucking nuts.

On that note, everyone who I brought to the Suncoast shows, came back week after week and brought their friends who came week after week.

Still debating on going to see Full Metal Jacket in Metal Shop's slot tues night. If they even attempt to do any comedy it'll prob seem like a cheap imitation, but if they just play, it may seem blah...

They're in a tough spot I guess too. Here's hoping they get booed out of Summerlin, and Coast Casinos come crawling back to Metal Shop...

Nothing against FMJ, but I'm gonna be real bummed if they don't announce a Vegas gig soon for MS!

Anyone go to the SLudge show last nite?

Scott~!

Anyone who's in the "know" have any rumors or speculation as to when the return to Vegas is??

By the way, the band who replaced them, FULL METAL JACKET, the singer subbed for Ralph one night and he was god-awful.

He spent two hours pinching his own nipples and sniffing his hairy armpits.

He went by the name "Nigel" and claimed to be from English. Not sure if this is true, nor do I really care...

The only significant part is that Full Metal Jacket plays at Sunset Station on Friday Nights, and that Atomic Punks are scheduled for Sunset Station also.

Maybe I'm reaching, but its gonna be 2 weeks on Tuesday and we're getting desperate here...

Did anyone go to Suncoast this Tuesday? Was it crowded? Did people did FMJ? Did they get booed off stage? (Sorry, Nigel or whatever your name is)

It just seems like a no-win situtation for FMJ...If they attempt comedy they're gonna come across as imitators, and if they just do a straight show, I doubt they can match Metal Shop musically....

Whatever, I just want MY METAL SHOP BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't seen FMJ, nor will I probably, but I must say that that Nigel guy did a great job on filling in, it's just that Ralph is as tough an act to follow as Dave was in VH. I especialy liked it when Ginger and Ratchet 'came' all over him at the end of Down Boys:

 -

But somehow I doubt they will duplicate the incredible party athmosphere of that last Metal Shop show:

 -

Of course the highlight from that show for me was Ralph grabbing my camcorder during "Photograph" and filming (mostly himself) from the stage:
