Does Metal Skool have a new Thursday night booking in Orange County?

A friend forwarded me this Club LiveWire web page describing a new weekly show in Tustin, just a few blocks from where I live [Big Grin]

This would rock [Devil]

I hope this holds through the next month or so... gonna be down there already for Queensryche on Friday the 30th at the Anaheim HOB ... this city is just south of Anaheim, correct? Sure have a fun bday weekend in the making...

I just found out about this show from someone calling me like 10 minutes ago...Strange.

That's great for me..I'm working in Irvine for another month. Tustin is WAY closer (yes, it's about 7 miles south of Anaheim) than Viper Room or San Diego.

I never would have guessed that Metal Skool would be playing a weekly gig so close to me in conservative (i.e. boring) Orange County, but there they were last Thursday, bringing back Heavy Metal to Tustin, CA where it all began [Roll Eyes]

Video clips are still pending, but I've posted some pictures from the show on my Metal Skool webpage where you'll also find a link to join my little unofficial Metal Skool fans mailing list [Thumbs Up!]

Metal Skool rocks!

So, can somebody confirm that this is going to be an ongoing thing? I'm already going to be in Anaheim Thursday night... but wondering if I should grab the "Fun fare" and head down in time for the show, or just hop in my little red car and get there whenever. Can anybody let me know? Thanks.

Call the club....but it's my understanding, it's a new regular gig.

Based on where Russ lives now.....he better get a high mileage car.

For those who want to see them...

I recommend the new Tustin gig or the San Diego gig. The Viper Room is a bitch to get into, unless you're on the list or know the password that night.

(still trying to figure how that gets out)

Otherwise...you end up in the plebe line.

It was so uncomfortable last night, I can't even tell you....sooo packed. If there was an emergency, we were all in trouble

Thanks... what's a "plebe" line? [Smile]

I know some people on the list... but they're hot chicks. Think that's the secret. [Wink]

A "plebe" is a regular person. In this case it meant, "the common folk, the not important, and non rock-star status" people.....

I agree with Atomic Bass on this. I make sure to stand by the door there because it gets so full of people. gotta keep an eye out for the nearest exit! [Frown]

Ah, well, seems like it will be happening. We're landing in the LA area late Thursday afternoon, so it's going to be a great weekend. Queensryche the next night too woo hoo! Albert, sure we'll see you there! [Big Grin]

AtomicAngel, I am glad you liked my pictures. Sorry the band hasn't been back to SF, I hope that they will return [Smile]

Plebe is short for Plebeian which means commoner. See http://dictionary.reference.com/search?r=2&q=plebeian

RacerXwebguy had great advice about checking with the venue to make sure Metal Skool is still playing there. My guess is that Metal Skool is probably on a 4 or 6 week trial period, so it is good to support them in Tustin when you can. My Metal Skool page has links to the venue and sponsor that show the address and phone number [Cool]

Rocker22, looking forward to meeting a fellow Atomic Punks / Metal Skool fan although it is not going to be easy to spot me tonight. My camera is out for repairs, so I can't say "looking for the big long-haired guy taking pictures up front". If you do recognize me, be sure to say "hi" [Big Grin]

Albert- We're actually gonna be down there at the end of the month... I think you have a pic of me from the ones on your page of the Metal Shop at SF shows... we might not be recognizable though, sure we'll be completely rockered out.

Heard some good news and bad news related to Metal Skool gigs this week.

On the plus side, I heard they sold out the Roxy during their debut there, while their former Viper home was nearly empty.

On the sad side, at last night's Metal Skool show in Tustin, the door guy said they were changing the schedule from weekly shows on Thursdays to just the FIRST Thursday of the month.

So they performed last night, but probably are NOT playing next Thursday. If you were thinking of going to Metal Skool after Queensryche or some future Thursday, you should contact the venue first to see if it will be worthwhile [Cry]

I have venue contact links on my Metal Skool web page [Quiet]

Maybe this frees up Metal Skool to return to other cities like Vegas & San Francisco on other Thursday nights, or maybe it just means that they are phasing out the Orange County show soon.

Hey Albert-

I sure hope that's not true. [Frown] I just called the club, and they told me they're still playing every Thursday. If you find out anything more, please send me a pm ... that would be such a HUGE bummer to miss it by one week! I'll call them next week as well... I was hoping to start my bday weekend off right with Metal Skool and Queensryche.

Well, now the club told me that they are indeed playing the first week of may. That TOTALLY sucks, we are flying into LA Thursday and will miss them by a week. [Frown] Major bummer, we had 3 nights of rock planned for the bday weekend. If anybody knows of anything cool to do in the LA/Anaheim area on Thursdays, let me know.

Yep. I called the club last night, they said Metal Skool wasn't playing, but would be playing next Thursday.

RacerXweb guy, it was nice meeting you at last week's OC Metal Skool show.

I've posted links to my Metal Skool pictures from their 2 most recent Orange County shows on my Metal Skool web page

Hope you like them [Smile]

I am always looking for new pictures and links for Metal Skool, the Atomic Punks and Russ' Thornbirds [Thumbs Up!]

Tonight I called McClures B&G in Tustin to see if Metal Skool would be performing their "monthly" show this Thursday.

I was told that they weren't playing there any more [Cry]

Anybody else hear the same thing?

Anybody else know if Metal Skool will be performing on Thursdays someplace else?

Thanks for any info on where we can catch this fun band [Thumbs Up!]

Albert,

You've pissed me off....NO...not at you. I just saw your pictures from Monday, June 21. I happen to be back in LA for 2 weeks...and I was going to go....but over slept, and missed the show.

I just saw the pictures and see that Nuno Bettencourt came up on stage...

Hey Ken, I'm sure you've heard the saying "you snooze, you lose" [Sleepy]

Anyway, I wanted to clarify that those are not my Metal Skool pictures from June 21st. Those are credited to Gabe, a friend of mine who is also an Atomic Punks fan, BTW [Big Grin]

I didn't attend the show that night, but I do hope to attend on July 5th when Russ' original band The Thornbirds will be opening for Metal Skool at the Roxy [Thumbs Up!]

Yes...that saying DEFINITELY applies.

I am in LA next week...so I'll be there Monday. I'll check my Hotel clock more CLOSELY this time to see that the AM/PM is set correctly. Grr.

Drat...Thornbirds July 5th...I definitely won't be there that Monday, because of the holiday.
